Delay in Spell Checking

Question

Using Word 2016 on Windows 10.  I am finding that while spell checking works, it's often delayed.  Sometimes it corrects as I type without issues.  Other times (more often) I might write an entire page, then as the page wraps, suddenly words will highlight from previous paragraphs.  I've even allowed some misspelled words to slip by, wondering how long until Word will discover the ruse (it does eventually, but not always instantly).  I've never had this issue with previous Word versions before.  Anyone else dealing with this?  Any idea on fixes?  It's more annoying than broken, but still I'd prefer the product I'm paying for to function properly.

Let us try opening Word in safe mode and check.

To do that, close Word. Let us type in ‘Run’ in the search bar next to start button, click on the 'run' icon that appears – in the 'Run window' type in WinWord /safe and hit ok. (Note: There is a space between WinWord and /). 

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add ins for the application and check the result,

Click the File tab.

Go to Options.

Click Add-ins.

In the Manage section, select COM Add-ins and click on Go.

Now uncheck the Add-ins and click on OK.

You may also try repairing Office from the control panel and check if it helps.

I have this also, with Office 2016 but on Windows 7. I've noticed this happening on Word and Outlook. Sometimes spelling errors are high lighted on the fly, other times it's delayed until I press enter, and sometimes delayed until I click on some other text. This didn't happen on previous office versions.
