Protected View Has Stopped Working

I'm using Microsoft Home and Business 2013 (v 15.0.4779.1002), which is current as of today.  Any time I try and open a document in Protected View (Outlook attachment, Internet download, etc.) the relevant Office application starts and then I get a message like "Microsoft Word (Protected View) has stopped working".  If I go into the Trust Center in the application and turn off Protected View, the document opens without a problem.

Searching the Support Forums it is clear that this issue has been going on for years.  Short of disabling Protect View is there a real solution?

Hi everyone!

We have an updated driver now available via Windows Update to help with this issue.

In Windows 10, select the Start button > Settings >Update & security > Windows Update.

If you happened to disable hardware acceleration as a workaround before the driver was available, you should re-enable it to avoid potential performance issues. More info here on how to do that.

Have a great weekend.

Protected View implementation is still not perfect. My suggestion will be that you continue to use the workaround.
