Saving Annotations between OneNote and Drawboard

Anonymous

I am using a Surface Pro 4,

When I open a PDF that I had already imported to OneNote I used to be able to open it, edit in Drawboard, then close the PDF in Drawboard and the annotations would be saved. Now when I do this the annotations are instantly deleted and not saved to my OneNote file.

When I try to do a 'Save and Close' in Drawboard it gives me the following message "Access Denied: The path is either read-only or locked by another application." I have tried this on multiple PDF's with the same result and loss of new annotations.

It has had worked perfectly and seamlessly before. I have tried restarting my computer but the problem persists. I will probably stop using OneNote and Drawboard if this problem persists because it would be inefficient for me to have to edit my files outside of OneNote and then need to re-attach them to every time.

I hope there is a solution to this issue!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

I suggest you to try installing all the pending Windows and Office updates and check if the OneNote work as expected.

As the error states that resource path is locked by another application, let us try starting the computer in clean boot and then try running OneNote to check if issue persist.

Starting the computer in clean boot mode would disable all the non-Microsoft applications and the antivirus which could be one of the reasons for the error.

Refer the article below to start the computer in clean boot.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Disclaimer: Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode after completing the troubleshooting steps.

Hope this helps. Please post back with the updated issue details for further assistance.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Just wanted to lend 'support' to the above issue.  I'm having the exact same error and issue (though it's not a before / after issue - rather it is something new since using OneNote 2016 which I only recently installed).

I get the same error message - slightly different path.  Same scenario - have a note in OneNote, try to edit PDF which opens in drawboard, and when I try and save I get the Access Denied message.

Any help would be great!  (If you need more info please let me know).

    Thanks!

    1. I downloaded OneNote 2016 through my University.
    2. I believe this is what you were looking for:
    3. The error message I receive when trying to save a PDF that was opened from OneNote is as follows. The auto-save upon closing feature is obviously not working either.

A comment below asked 'before' what happened. It randomly happened one day, a few days ago, and I've recently realized that the annotations were not saving upon closing my documents. I am unaware of what has changed. I am definitely using OneNote 2016 desktop, not the app.

    Thank you in advance!!

It has had worked perfectly and seamlessly before.

    Before WHAT ?

For me it sounds like you're using the Onenote App from the Windows Store. Try it with Onenote 2016 desktop.
