Excel 2010 Column Width Issue

I am having an issue in Excel 2010 whenever I save an existing spreadsheet under a new file name.  In the new file, one of the columns (in my case Column I) automatically adjusts to the standard 8.43 width and then I am unable to adjust the  Column I width and re-save the new spreadsheet.  How can I correct this situation?  I have just discovered that the issue is triggered whenever I click on either the "Save" or "Save As" icons under the "File" tab.

    Hi Naved,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

Let’s open Excel in application Safe Mode and check how it works.

To do that, press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

In the Run open box type in ‘Excel /safe’ and hit ok.

Note: There is a space between excel and /.

If application safe mode works, try disabling the add-ins associated with Office applications and check.

To do that, do the following:

    1. Open Word or Excel Click on File and then click on options.
    2. In the Options Window click on Add-ins.
    3. Select Com Add-ins in the Manage list in the Add-ins section and click Go. Now uncheck the all the add-ins and click Ok.

Try the suggestions and let us know the result at your earliest convenience.

    Thank you.

Also, if column I is hidden in a worksheet, when the file is saved, column I is automatically unhidden during the action of saving the file (as well as reverting back to the default width of 8.43 (64 pixels)). The issue appears to ONLY apply to column I; not to any other columns; not to any rows.

This issue occurs with ALL Excel 2010 documents that I open & save. OS is Windows 7.
