Changing research pane access

Alt + touch pad    opens the Research Pane

since it is not uncommon that it is open unwillingly, is there a way to access Research Pane in another way, for example customizing a combination of keys?

Besides, how can I prevent from accessing via Alt +  touch pad?

What I'm trying to lead you to is identifying the underlying command triggered by the keyboard shortcut. If it shows up in this dialog, then you have the option to "REMOVE" the current shortcut keys and / or to assign new ones.

That is what you want to do isn't it?

I don't get what you are trying to show.

I know very well how to customize Keyboard.

I ask if it is possible to customize the access (opening) of Research Pane. I don't like its default Alt plus touchpad  because it is not uncommon that my hand is over the touchpad and triggers unwillingly the Research Pane.

I have the same problem with Outlook, but I may ask that at the Outlook forum

Alt plus pressing touchpad opens the Research Pane. And I don't want that because it is not strange to have that pane prompted unwillingly.

On the other hand I don't want to use the mouse nor disable the touchpad.

I want to see if I can have another hotkey to open the Research Pane

Go to File menu > Options command > Customize Ribbon option > Customize ... button.

With the mouse, single click inside of the "Press new shortcut key" input field (circled in green). Then input your shortcut combo, <ALT><touchpad>.

If you are lucky, Word will show the command associated with the shortcut. In this example it shows "ViewNormal" in the space you need to look at (circled in orange).

If there is a command there, you can change or clear the shortcut key assigned to it.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

Are you doing left or right click on touch pad which triggers the Research Pane?

The Keyboard Shortcuts cannot be changed or disabled for accessing the Research Pane.

Connect an external Keyboard and check if you are able to resolve the issue and the touchpad does not trigger the Research Pane.

Alternatively, if you prefer using an external mouse you may disable the touchpad also.

Let us know if you need any other information or assistance.

    Thank you.
