When I insert a picture into a Word 2016 document and click on Pictures, the resulting browsing window nearly fills the screen when it opens and I cannot make it smaller. The little sizing double-arrows (<-->) appear at both sides and the bottom (but not the top) of the window, but are ineffective. Also, I can't move the window by dragging the top of it.
There is no Minimize or Restore Down option at the top of the window, only the Close (X) option.
This happens whether the document is Maximized or Restored Down, which in the second case means it covers other work I have open at the time. I don't necessarily want the window to fill ALL of the screen, as sometimes I want to see what's "behind" it.
I didn't have this problem with Word 2013 - is this something new? Is it a Windows 10 (which I use) vs. Windows 8.1 issue?
What can I do so I can resize the window?
Thank you for your time...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I started using Word in 1992, and it's only been in the past few years that I learned this. And of course, it may well be only in fairly recent versions (I use it in Word 2003) that this has been true. Certainly, in earlier versions, none of the dialogs (Open, Save, etc.) were resizable by dragging the lower right corner.
Many of Word's dialogs can be maximized/restored by double-clicking.
I have been using Word, etc. since Windows v3.1 in the very early 90s, yet somehow I didn't know this.
I've been doing this all evening - thank you again for the very useful tip!
Many of Word's dialogs can be maximized/restored by double-clicking. This can be helpful at times (some of them, of course, can also be resized by dragging, but this works even for those that can't). I find it especially useful for the Select Recipients dialog in a mail merge.
BLESS you - once again you come to my rescue. I didn't even THINK of that, but it fixed the problem immediately. <doing the Snoopy dance>
