    You really had me going, and I was so mad at Microsoft for a minute, but you're completely damn wrong. It's the simplest thing in the world to deactivate: Go to PivotTable Analyze -> Options (click the triangle dropdown button) -> Uncheck "Generate GetPivot Data." Screenshot below.

    Shane is correct. GetPivotTable is always on in Excel on the Mac.

    If you could turn it off, this code would run successfully:

    Sub TurnGetPivotDataOff()

        Application.GenerateGetPivotData = False

        Application.GenerateTableRefs = xlGenerateTableRefStruct

    End Sub

    However, you are not allowed to change the setting to False on a Mac, so this code will not run.

    This is just one of the many features left out of Excel on the Mac. You can add your feature request to the suggestion box or vote for this feature request if it has already been added to the list here:

    Then you don't have Excel 2016 for Mac.

    Please note that the date of the old answers. Those answers apply to the version of Excel 2016 that existed last August. The answer I made back then does not apply to current update versions of Excel. The feature set has changed considerably.

    Your answer applies to Excel version 15.21, which is the current edition. Your answer is correct today but is wrong for the question that was asked when it was asked.
