How to preserve file modify dates when adding bulk files to OneDrive groups

This is (I think) more related to Sharepoint but I don't see a place to post for that.

If I am in OneDrive, then I click on a group at the bottom I am taken to the file storage area for that group.

Now, I want to add files to this group storage area.  I drag and drop them from my PC into this folder.  All of the files are now marked with the date and time that I am copying them, not the date and time of when they are last modified.

If I do the same drag and drop exercise in OneDrive in my personal file storage area then the modify date and time is preserved.

How do I get files into the group storage area and preserve the file modify date and time?  Thanks.

Hi TheTransplant,

This is an expected behavior that the modified date won't be preserved after syncing files from local drive to the group file library. You can vote in the following uservoice link, this is the best way to influence our products.

Microsoft NEEDS to FIX Onedrive so that files reflect their last modified date/time, not the upload date/time.

Regards,

James

    Hi TheTransplant,

You are right. The modified date will be preserved when you sync with your personal OneDrive while the files or documents in your OneDrive for Business will not.

Please refer to James' suggestion to vote for your requirement in our OneDrive User Voice.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    William

James, thanks for the note.  To be clear - if I sync with my personal onedrive library then the modified date is preserved.  However, if I add files to my group library (which appears to be under Sharepoint despite the fact that I access it through OneDrive) then the modified date is not preserved.  Is this the desired behavior that one would operate differently than the other?
