Change new window position

Excel 2013.  After opening an existing or new workbook, its screen position is below and to the right of any existing workbook.  How can this be set to be only to the right of the existing workbook(s) (i.e., not below, where the sheet names are below and behind the taskbar).

Thank you for the information. This how Excel works if it's not opened in full screen. However, this can be resolved by opening the workbook in a full screen mode. While on that mode, try opening a new workbook and you should not experience the same problem.

You can also provide your feedback on how we can improve our products through this link. Our engineers and developers would be looking further into your concern once you posted your feedback.

Feel free to post back should you have further concern.

    Hi Deseree:

    Thanks for your response.  As you recommended I have submitted the following to the software improvement team on Friday 31 March 2017:

    <begin improvement submission>

    After opening an Excel file and positioning and sizing its window at the bottom left of the desktop (with about 1/4" of desktop showing at the top), when a new Workbook is created or an(other) existing workbook file is opened, it is positioned below and to the right of the existing window, causing all the worksheet tabs to be below (and behind) the task bar.

    Please add an option which allows the user to set how new / existing windows will be positioned, such as 10 pixels to the right and 0 pixels down.  The defaults can be whatever is hard coded now.  I think of it as a display issue, and so would look for it in Options-Advanced-Display.

    Search for "Change new window position", a thread in Excel Community Office 13 for more information.

    <end improvement submission>

    If referring to "Change new window position" will appropriately direct the improvement group to this thread, then let's close it.

    Thanks for your help.

    ) A change did not cause the problem.  It has always behaved this way since installation of Office 2013.

    )  I have looked in all the Excel "Options" for a way to control the position of a new screen and was unable to find any reference to the issue.  I have also looked in "Help".  Hence my query.

    ) As I said above, it has always behaved this way since installation of Office 2013.

    ) I noticed the behavior upon opening another file.

    ) Windows 7 Professional with all required (but not all optional) updates applied. Office Home and Business 2013; Excel 2013 (15.0.4911.1000) 32-bit (running on 64 bit HP Elitebook 8570w laptop).

    ) Below is a screen shot clearly displaying that the just opened workbook is below and to the left of the previously opened workbook.  Note that the sheet names are (annoyingly) below and behind the taskbar, always making it necessary to relocate the newly opened workbook before working on it.

    My hunch is that I am asking for a new user adjustable feature.

    Thanks for responding to my detailed description of the Excel (and probably Word) quirk after opening a second Excel Workbook (or Word document).  Obviously I won't experience the problem in full screen mode, because everything will open with (0,0 - top left) in the upper left corner.  However, once I take any document out of full screen, the phenomenon reappears.

    I will use the product improvement link to advise the engineers and developers of a way to improve the product (user settable initial workbook open position, expressed as an offset from the top left of the workbook used to open the document).

    Is there a way to refer the development team to this thread?
