Excel does not remember custom conditional formatting for icon sets

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with Excel for Mac 2016 that I didn't have in the previous version, or on the current Windows version.

I often create Conditional Formatting using Icon Sets. If I customise the displayed Cell Icons for my conditional formatting it seems to update correctly during the current session. However, if I save and reload the workbook the customisation of the icons is removed and the default ones are restored.

I would like to know if there is a workaround for this, and if anyone else can re-create the issue.

Thanks

Before reporting this as a bug, make sure you have the latest update installed.

Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection before checking for updates. Install Mac OS X updates followed by Office updates.

    Mac OS X updates:

To get Mac OS updates, go to the App store on your dock, and then click the Updates button to reveal available updates.

    Office Updates

    To get the update:

    1. Open any Office application:
    2. Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection
    3. Go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates
    4. Let AutoUpdate check for and install updates
    5. Restart your Mac

If the problem persists after installing the updates you can report trouble to Microsoft using the Smile button in Excel.

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately that didn't work. I tried all of the Excel* formats and each time the formatting was reset to the default.

I'm going to conclude that this is a bug with Excel for Mac 2016. I don't know of a way to report bugs to Microsoft other than posting here though.

Try saving as a different format maybe that will allow saving:

This is just a suggestion. If someone has a better answer use it.
