Question

User can't edit native 365 groups he owns from MS Outlook 365

Azure AD Connect from on-prem AD to Azure AD, non-hybrid, password-writeback.
User was synced from the local AD and added as owner to several native O365 groups but cannot edit them from desktop Outlook 365.
Got error:
"Changes to the public group membership cannot be saved. You do not have sufficient permissions to perform this operation on this object":

You mean an Office 365 Group?
You edit those under the Groups management areas in the client

From left side panel in Outlook there is no "Edit" in menu.
But user assigned as owner for that group in 365 AdminCenter and in the Azure AD web-console.

Hi @Allan Stark ,

Actually, we couldn't edit the Microsoft 365 group in Outlook Address book , which has been stated in the official document.

So in this case, we need to add the user as a member of group and manage the membership via Group Ribbon in Outlook as the document mentioned.

Not sure why you accepted that as the answer. I was telling you the same exact thing.
You can't modify the groups in the Address Book in Outlook, you have to use the steps in the doc which is the same link I gave you. If that wasnt working, then use OWA

I found that this user's Outlook worked with disabled Cached Exchange mode. I enabled it and groups buttons appeared.
So the problem was still in this setting.

User needs to be an owner, but he does not need to be additionally a member of this group.
In this case, this group will not appear on the left in the desktop Outlook panel.
I'm sorry, but logging in the desktop into the web Outlook interface separately to just edit the 365 group is somehow silly.

I only offered that as an alternative.
So you dont see the group management in Outlook?
Per that doc, you should be able to highlight it in Outlook in the left side pane and then manage it from the ribbon.

Yes, in Outlook, you cannot edit a group through the address book button, and buttons for creating a new group or viewing groups are also not displayed, even if they are forced to be displayed in the ribbon.
In web interface all works under that user.

Sorry, havent seen that, but OWA is always more reliable than Outlook

I know that isnt the answer you want, but it always seems to work even when Outlook doesnt for many things.
