Quick Access Tool Bar Error

I have a case where a user is trying to add items to Excel 2013 quick access tool bar. When the user goes and saves to new items we get an error stating "The server drafts location you entered for offline editing is not valid or you do not have permission to access that location."

In Excels options -> save -> Offline editing options for documents management server files, In the server drafts location I set it to her network storage but we still got the error.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue?

Hi CassidyC,

You can try adding a registry key to see the outcome:

Start > Run > regedit > go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Offline\Options] > add <Location> as <REG_SZ> and set its value to a valid local folder path.

For your reference:

Error message in Word Options "The server drafts location you entered...you do not have permission" This is my own Personal Computer.

Please let us know the updates for further help. You can also check the point 2 & 3 I mentioned before.

Regards,

Jim

I went through the three steps you provided.

What I have noticed is I can not get any file location to save in Server drafts location.

I will put the folder the user can access in and click ok and when I go back the field is empty.

    Hi CassidyC,

To investigate the issue, please check the following information:

    1. Regarding the error message, it is best to point to a valid folder on the user's computer.

    For example: C:\Users\username\Documents\SharePoint Drafts\

In addition, can the user access the network storage without problem?

    1. Does the issue happen each time the user make changes to an Excel worksheet?

Or, does it only apply to the Quick Access Tool Bar?

    1. You may also let the user perform an Online repair.

(Programs and features > select Office > Change > Online Repair)

    Regards,

    Jim
