Access will not start

I purchased Office 365 personal but cannot get Access to work. I get the following error:" Automatic configuration of the current version of Microsoft Access has failed...............This can occur if you do not have the necessary permissions to install Microsoft Access on this computer. " I've spent close to 5 hours over 2 days on the phone with different customer and tech support people only to learn I have to spend $500 to get help. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm running Windows 10, and all the other Office apps are working properly.

You could locate the msaccess.exe file and right-click on it and select Run as Administrator.

I don't know if this applies to your setup, but I came across the following thread you might wish to take a glance at: Can't open Access after clean install (look at Mathias Hass's post near the end.)

Yes, I did try the Office Repair. Unfortunately, the uninstall/reinstall did not fix the problem. Do you have another suggestion?

Have you tried performing an Office Repair?

In certain cases, especially cases where PCs have a trial version already installed, I have found it necessary to completely uninstall Office using the Micorosft FixIt utility (option 2) and then install it again.
