Hi all,

We have an onPrem Exchange Server with 300 Mailboxes. We have migrated alle Users to Office 365 and everything works fine.

But..

Die Mailboxes onPrem need a lot of Disk Space... When i delete the Mailbox OnPrem the User ProxyAdresse are gone so what a supported why to geht rid of the OnPremise Mailboxes?

The next ist i have to move the Maiboxes onPrem to a new on Prem Exchange (in a Datacenter) because we want to get rid of our on Prem Infrastructure.

Thanks for help

    Hi Skykitchen,

According to your description, do you mean that you have DirSync/AAD Sync/AAD Connect deployed?

If so, we can’t delete mailboxes directly since all the changed made in the on-premises will be synced to Office 365. In this way, we suggest you first back up all the mailboxes’ data, then convert the on-premises mailboxes to mail-enabled users.

About the detailed steps about how to convert the mailboxes to mail-enabled users, since it’s related to the on-premises, we suggest you post the issue with details in our on-premises Exchange Server Forum via: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/home?category=exchangeserver%2Cexchangeserverlegacy&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc. Your understanding is appreciated.
