MS Project 2016 text box issues

Anonymous
2017-01-12T10:05:53+00:00

I am trying to add text box to gantt chart area using the format; drawing; text box tool.

I can successfully add the text but when I attempt to print the text has moved.

Same issue occurs irrespective of whether text box is attached to task or timescale.

    sorushsef,

This "question" doesn't appear to be related to the topic of this thread so I suggest you re-post as a new item. In addition explain what "project management software" you are referring to (e.g. Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, etc.). In the new post you should also explain what happened and exactly what is the problem.

    goefin7,

Unfortunately placement of drawing objects in Project is not an exact science. Project is not "tuned" for graphics and placement of drawing objects is dependent on graphic type (i.e. text box, arrow, etc.), timescale setting and the printer driver's translation of same.

The best I can suggest is to either avoid using drawing objects if you intend on printing the plan, or "play" with the placement to optimize printer results. I found that drawing a vertical line from a date, (date placement is indexed on the middle of the day), in conjunction with your text box can help "register" the text box. Once it is in place, delete the vertical line.

Unless you have a lot of verbiage you want to include, you may find that using a Text field around a custom Gantt Bar is more reliable.

    Hope this helps

    John
