multiple One drives - sync issues

Continuing from my thread in the old forum:

Just for clarity, all my users at the same time got the yellow triangle with the exclamation point.

So just dealing with the one Win 7 machine.  It is shared and has 4 users.

I have the only local admin account on it.

I had One drive personal, one drive for business and a SharePoint folder.

One drive business went got the yellow triangle with the exclamation point.

One drive personal was still fine.

I read the bit about it and I guess I loaded the new one drive business that lists the tenant name.

It appears to be working for business.

One drive personal has now stopped working on this machine with I think every file showing a sync error.

Sharepoint seems to have stopped updating.

OLD one drive for business is asking for credentials.  It pops the login screen.  I enter the info and click sign in and it just sits there.  No error, just nothing happens.

So I looked at my one of the other users.  He appear to have only the new one drive with tenant name.

His sharepoint is not updating.

The old one drive for business is not there.

I did do the manual office update from the account section in Word and it was set to automatic. This machine currently says 16.0.6001.1073

Groove version matches in the office 16 folder

That is step one.

Step 2 and3 : aren’t applicable, as all my systems errored at once.

Step 4 didn’t work.  Tried it before I did anything else.

Step 5.  Did that before anything else, didn’t work.

I went here. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10104/troubleshooting-onedrive-for-business-sync-issues

Share point is trusted in IE. (not sure why that applies?)

So I went to programs.  There was one listing for one drive.  I tried uninstalling it.

The new version of one drive business is gone. My personal one drive is gone.

My old one drive for business is still running with the yellow triangle with the exclamation point.

I was going to uninstall it, but it must inside the Office 365 proplus package.  I don’t see a separate listing for it.

This is just ONE computer.  I have a bunch more out there.  Does it all have to be this complicated?

A couple I don’t want to upgrade Outlook all the way to 16, as I they need to talk to an Exchange 2007 server.

(That is another issue.  I need to figure out how to export a separate calendar on the old local only exchange server and make a new stand alone calendar that I can assign users to with varying rights in 365.  I tried rooms which seemed too complicated for users and groups, which won’t put  stand alone calendar in Outlook desktop….. )

Ok, sorry for the delay, but the frustration with Onedrive overwhelmed me.

So, dealing with just the one Window 7 shared work stations, I used the method that seem to work best for me and I waited for onedrive to fix itself.  To some degree it did.  I seem to have the NEW business onedrive that has the business name and my one drive personal and they have no errors.

So that leave me with sharepoint.  From what I read here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Which-OneDrive-sync-client-am-I-using-19246eae-8a51-490a-8d97-a645c151f2ba?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

all I need is to be running THREE one drives: the personal, the new one with the business name and the old on that says one drive for business which will do the sharepoint folders.

So I tried to install it.  My group/sharepoint thing said to get the version that is right for me here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/kb/2903984   So I did that and tried to install the 32 bit version to match my office install.  It tell me that I have a newer version of Office 365 running and I need to uninstall it before I can install one drive for business.

So then I found this handy fix it tool that said run this and it will seperately install Onedrive for business if you don't have it in your office: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3098502  And of course it failed and finished saying Onedrive for Business 2016 was NOT installed.

So I am happy that the regular one drives seem to be ok, but I kind would like to get sharepoint in file explorer where my people can find it and the files easily and sync the files to each machine.

Again though I wonder if it is just a matter of waiting for MS to fix the problems in the background.

    Hi Richard,

I noticed you have been experiencing the sync issue on many computers which seems a bit unusual. Could you provide some more details to help us better understand the situation?

    1.    Do all the users get the same error? Could you provide screenshots of the error message and other symptoms for our reference?

    2.    Does the error happen with files stored on your SharePoint Online Team Site or OneDrive for Business?

    3.    Does it happen to both the legacy OneDrive for Business sync client and the Next Generation sync client?

    4.    Has any user solved the issue by the troubleshooting steps provided by Ryan?

Besides, the legacy OneDrive for Business sync client can be downloaded from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/kb/2903984. This client can be used side by side with the OneDrive for Business Next Generation sync client.

    Thanks,

    Eric Yang

    Ryan,

So I have 10-12 systems with the errored one drive.

One the computer I am working on, I need to clear credentials for 4 users?  I can try that.  I know word is now showing my one drive {tenant name} twice and my sharepoint {tenant name} twice on more than one machine.

Then go to 11 other machines and do the SAME thing?  I will be at this forever.  They ALL stopped at the same time; shouldn't there be an easy fix as this is global for us, not system specific?

And the clear the cache tool would delete all the files that my users *think* are uploading to one drive and we lose them?

I just want to have my users have their one drive for business work and Sharepoint work so they can use file explorer and see what they need.

I posted info for a group of users in sharepoint.  User reports today it is not in his.  As I stated above, this computer, I think for other users has only the 'new' one drive for business, the one that shows the tenant name.  Am I to understand this 'new' one won't do sharepoint?  So I need to get rid of it and try to get the old one back?  I don't even know where to get it.

Honestly I have been keeping my work in my personal one drive through my home 365, just because it seems to work more reliably, but now I can't access it on that one system...

    Hi Richard,

It seems that the issue is related to the credentials. Please try the steps below first:

    1. Close all Office application (include legacy/old OneDrive for Business)
    2. Open Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > clear all stored Office related credentials (start with MicrosoftOffice)
    3. Open legacy OneDrive for Business again and input your credentials.

You may also try easy fix tool to remove OneDrive for Business cache to see if it helps. You can find the tool in the KB article below:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/kb/3038627

Caution: This tool requires you to resync all data that you synced previously to OneDrive for Business.  This includes your OneDrive for Business Personal Site library and any other site libraries that you have synced. Make sure that you back up personal information before you use this tool.  This tool also affects OneDrive.com caches. Make sure that your OneDrive.com files are fully synced before you run this tool.

If the issue persists, please capture us screenshots of detailed error message by clicking view sync problems and the notification when you click on the old sync client icon in system tray.

    Regards,

    Ryan
