Search results include items from document library, even when set to "do not show..."

Hi!

I administrate an Office 365 tenancy and have a document library containing approximately 3000 items. In advanced settings for the document library "Allow items from this document library to appear in search results?" is set to "no". But documents from the library still appear in search results.

I have tried to set "Allow items from this document library to appear in search results?" to Yes ,wait 12h and set it back to "no" and wait more than 12h but documents from the library still appear in search results. I have also tried to re-indexing the site without any results.

Does anyone have suggestions what else to try?

Best regards

/Maria

    Hi Maria,

    Thanks for the updates.

The information indicates the issue is related to the library itself. We’d like to collect the network trace logs which contains the returned search results, and involve related team to assist you. To protect your privacy, I have sent you a private message with the detailed steps. You can go to this link to access to the Private Message: https://community.office365.com/user/conversations

Please also share us with a screenshot of that library settings page “Allow items from this document library to appear in search results?” option.

Meanwhile, I’d suggest you check if creating a new library in the site using the template of this library fits your situation.

Note: This is a quick workaround. The workaround may be not suitable if you’d like to also keep the version history of the files and other information during the recreation.

Below is the steps to save the library as template and recreate the library:

    1. Navigate to the library > click Library settings on the ribbon.
    2. Click Save document library as template > complete the settings > OK
    3. Click the gear icon > add an app > find the template and recreate the library.

    Regards,

    Ryan

    hi ryan!

i can not reproduce the error in a library (with 300 items) on a other site collection.

the library that not should appear in the search results are http://xxx/nyheter/vpp, as you can see in the screendump, it is still there. we have same problem with an other list in same site collection (nyheter/lists/kommentarer).

    regards,

    maria

    hi maria,

it seems that the contents are not correctly hided in the search result. i’d like to collect the following information for investigation:

    1. a screenshot of problematic search result and the library which you have configured to exclude.
    2. check if the issue can be reproduced on other site collection. we need to confirm this to determine the scope of the issue.

you can upload screenshots by clicking use rich formatting > the first insert/edit media icon.
