Error Messages when saving a Word doc.

Split from this thread.

I'm assuming if you check Word>About Word, you're still on 15.29.1. Please choose Help>Check for Updates to install 15.30, which should fix this bug.

I'm running 15.30 and I still can't save Word documents.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Ed_8172016,

    Thanks for your reply.

Based on your description, I’d like to confirm more information.

    1. Please provide the version of your Mac since the problem may related to the version of the Mac.
    2. Try saving the file as .doc format to check whether the problem still persists.
    3. Please resend the error message.

    Regards,

    Tisky

I click save as, when the files appear, I choose one and click save.  At that point i get the spinning rainbow and eventually the message that word is not responding do I want to quit or wait.

If I quit, I get an apology from Microsoft for my inconvenience.

I'm working now with a Microsoft tech.  I'm a 20 year user of Word, and I'm doing what I've always done :-).  occasionally it does save the file, but the file is empty, I get a blank sheet of paper and the file size is zero.  Its baffling.  I appreciate any advice you have.  It generates a report that I send to Microsoft.  I didn't save a copy, since I can't save it in Word.

    Hi Ed_8172016,

The error message WarrenBiker mentioned pops up, usually because the document is closed accidentally such as when running out of the power or shutting down the Mac suddenly.

About the scenario you run into, I would like to confirm if you have the same situation and run into the same error message when saving a document as Warrenbiker mentioned? If so, please follow the step below and let us know the result:

    1. Click Word > Preferences > Personal settings > File locations.
    2. Select Autocovery location > modify.
    3. Check if the files can be found in the location.

If you have different situation with WarrenBiker, could you share with us the following details?

    1. How do you save the document? More detailed steps are appreciated.
    2. Are you run into any error message when saving a document? If so, please share with us a screenshot.

    Regards,

    Shirley
