Restricted access to shared mailbox

Having just moved to Office 365, we are working with offices to transition away from generic logon usernames for their part-time office assistants (students) to granting appropriate permissions to shared mailboxes and calendars.

One office has expressed concern that their assistants will have access to confidential material while not at work.  (Yes, I pointed out that they had that before.)  But the question is this:  Is it possible to restrict access to a shared mailbox and/or calendar such that a user can only access it when logged in to O365 from a certain workstation and/or IP address?

Hi Romeyn,

I understand your requirement, however, it’s not able to do this, as the Office 365 users access the shared mailbox and calendar is based on the permission.

I suggest you submit feedback to our related team via https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/273494-outlook-and-calendar. Many features have been designed via customer’s valuable advice.

Thanks,

Toby
