Moderation time limit ignored

I have set a moderation time limit using powershell at 4 days.

As of last week this is being ignored and I am receiving:

The message has been returned to the sender because no decision was made.

xxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxx requested your approval of the attached message for delivery to the following recipient. Because no moderation decision was made within 2 days, the message has been returned to the sender.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Has the setting been moved or replaced?

Hi Gary,

We are on Exchange Online.

This seems to be a red herring. It actually seems that the four day setting is being adhered to, but the error message email says only two.

I have contacted one of the senders and they tell me that they have not sent any emails recently therefore I'm assuming that these messages may be part of the remediation being carried out as part of issue EX85220.

Thank you for your help. I'll open another thread if it happens again.

    Hi Bison,

First, I'd like to know whether you are using Exchange Online. If yes, appearing this error message is a expected behavior if the moderator doesn't respond to the message after two days. But, if you are using Exchange Server 2013, the sender will receive the error message after five days. For more detailed information, please referred to this article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297936.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

If your case is the latter (not use Exchange Online), it is not an expected behavior that the sender receive the error message. Since our forum focuses on Office 365 for Business online services and Outlook client related issues. It is recommended you post in our Exchange server forum for further investigation. Engineer there will be glad to provide assistance.

    Thanks,

    Gary
