Windows 10 - File Explorer / XML type

I have a number of standard Windows files (e.g. .docx, .pptx. etc) that were copied onto an external drive.

Now when I try to access the files on the external drive via Windows file explorer, they are all designated with the File Type : "XML type"

  "G:\EY\Working Folder\Abu Dhabi GPS Advisory\Abu Dhabi GPS Advisory Planning Meeting - May 2015 V05 draft.pptx.XML"

But I cannot seem to open the files any more.

Can anyone recommend the fix for this?

Thanks

Jack

Hi Jack,

In regards to your concern, Microsoft Office uses the XML-based file formats, such as**.** docx,. xlsx, and . pptx, since 2007 release. These formats and file name extensions apply to Officeapps Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

To learn how to open the files in that format, you can refer to this link.
