Compile error in hidden module: "MStart"

Whenever I open Microsoft Excel, I get the pop up of

Compile error in hidden module: 'MStart'. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with this version, platform, or architecture of this application.

Following that, excel works as per usual. I was wondering whether there is something that could be done regarding this?

Hi Yee,

This error message usually happens when an add-in's code is incompatible with Office 2016 for Mac 64-bit.

We suggest you turn off add-ins in Office 2016 for Mac to troubleshoot the issue.

  1. Go to Tools > Templates and Add-ins.
  2. In the Global Templates and Add-ins list, all installed add-ins that are running will show.
  3. Check or select an add-in to edit, or turn off by clicking the + or - option. Click OK when done.
  4. Exit and restart the application.
