Reporting based on email alias

Is there a way to pull emails based on an email alias?  I have tried using eDiscovery to pull email based on an alias associated with a mailbox, but it also pulls email for the primary address associated with the mailbox.  Is there a way to search on the secondary email without it also resolving to the primary email address?

Hi Michael,

According to my test, if you use eDiscovery to search emails based on the primary address, the result will only contains emails for the primary address.

So if you only want to search emails for the secondary email address, I suggest you change the secondary address to the primary address, then search via eDiscovery.

Here are the steps:

In the EAC click recipients> mailbox> select the mailbox where you want to change the primary email address, then click Edit.

Choose the secondary address in email address, then click Edit

Check Make this the reply address box.

NOTE: This action won’t change Skype for Business address ( SIP address), so your email address will be different from it if you don’t change back. Also some functions in Outlook and Skype for Business will be affected such as Skype meeting. So I suggest you change it back after you finish searching.

If there is anything misunderstood, please share some examples about your requirement.

Regards,

Andy
