The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find the input table or query..

HELP! I am new to Access.  I recently updated a formula in a query and saved the changes.  Now when I try to open the database, I get the error "The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find the input table or query..".  It has been working great until now.  What happened?  (the database is split).  I have searched for a solution but to no avail.

First, MAKE A COPY of your frontend - it may be corrupted or it may not, but my suggestions below could make matters worse!

Then, try opening the frontend, holding down the SHIFT key if necessary to bypass any startup code. Take a deep breath, select all the linked tables and press the DELETE key to delete the links. If Access asks you "Really!?" say yes. (I told you to make a backup... right?). Then compact and repair the database.

Then use External Data... Link and create new links to the tables in the backend. Compact and repair the database again.

If this doesn't clear it up, post back with more details (such as the SQL of the query that you changed).

    Try opening the BE.

Create a new FE and link to the BE tables.  Try running a query.

    Karl,

Thank you for the reply.  I gave that a try and it didn't seem to do anything. This is certainly a frustrating problem.  It is as if all of my tables are gone.  I see them but I just get the error "The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find the input table or query". If I try to open any of the tables, I get the same error. The strange thing is that one of the tables was not effected.

    Thanks for the help!

When opening the database front-end hold down the shift key.

Check the spelling within the query where you made changes.
