Visio 2016 embedded excel object error message -

I have created a .vsdx Visio file in Visio 2016 professional ( my version has all the latest updates installed for office 2016)with excel objects embedded in the Visio file.  I could edit it and save and all was fine. I then closed the file and reopened it and when I try to edit the excel objects Visio returns a message - Visio is unable to edit the unknown object. with developer mode on it gives a message - an error (1415) occurred during the action open object, Visio is unable to edit the unknown object.  I have sent the file to a colleague who can open it and edit the objects who is on office 365 and office 2016 Visio, not professional, then when he sends it back I cant edit it.   This is also a repeatable problem create a new file and then edit , then save, close, reopen and it fails.

I also asked the question on this post that sounded similar

no resolution was provided so I am interested if it was solved.

Thanks for confirming that you have reproduced the problem. My colleague has edited it and sent it back and i can't edit. I really need fix for this. is it possible as I am an office365 user to have office365 visio or not professional made available to me until this is fixed as you have reproduced this. The client work needs to be in next week and we can't share the work between us at the moment as I can't edit the  file.  Any help would be much appreciated even if i downgrade from professional for the moment.

    Thanks Andy

    Hi Andy,

    >> I have sent the file to a colleague who can open it and edit the objects who is on office 365 and office 2016 Visio, not professional, then when he sends it back I cant edit it.

What if the original file is created by the colleague? Can you open and edit the file properly in your Visio?

Besides, please try repairing Office via Control Panel to see if there will be any improvement.

Any updates, please feel free to post back.

    Best regards,

    Yuki Sun
