    Hi Peneg,

Please try to clean the OneNote Cache folder to check if this issue can be fixed:

    1. Close all the notebooks
    2. Sign out your work or school account
    3. Close all the Office Apps
    4. Open the "Keychain Access" Application
    5. Search for "Microsoft", then delete all the items you find
    6. Then re-open OneNote and sign in again.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi Cristy,

I don’t see any error screenshot, I think it is not attached properly. Can you please re-attach the screenshot?

To further troubleshoot, please try the following suggestions:

    1. Please check the notebooks stored in OneDrive and see if you can edit them online.
    2. Create a new notebook in OneDrive and then edit in Onenote 2016 client and see if the newly created notebook also exhibit the same “read only” behavior.
    3. Please confirm whether you save your OneNote notebooks in OneDrive or OneDrive for business.

Meanwhile, please try updating your OneNote to the latest version i.e. 15.30, after updating please check if you can edit the notebooks or not. Also, please confirm which license of Office 2016 for mac you have?

    Thanks,

    Neha

    thanks alot Neha.

Below I have attached a screen shot of the 'read only' message.

I store my onenote notebooks in a local OneDrive.

The read only message is present all the time in all my notebooks in the OneDrive.

The one note I am using is version 15.29

    Hi Cristy,

We need the following information, so we can narrow down the issue:

    1. Please send us a screenshot of “read-only” message.
    2. Where do you store your OneNote notebook, in OneDrive for business or local system?
    3. Is there any action you are performing which makes OneNote read-only?
    4. Please confirm the exact version of your OneNote.

Also, please check if it is happening with all the notebooks are any specific one.

    Thanks,

    Neha
