Word VBA InputBox Focus

Word Version 15.20 (160315) on macOS (Sierra)

I have a Word VBA macro that opens an InputBox, which I use very frequently. After upgrading from OS X (El Capitan) to macOS (Sierra), when the InputBox pops up, the input is not focused. You have to click into the input with the mouse to begin typing in the input box. This is a meaningful UX regression for my use case and probably for many others.

Any recommendations for how to fix this? I looked for ways to tweak the code that calls InputBox(), but I didn't find any promising leads.

Thank you!!

I apologize if my writing came off snarky. That was unintended. I appreciate your response to my post.

I had been having trouble installing Office updates (I think a DNS issue), but I just got the update to install. I now have Microsoft Word for Mac, Version 15.27 (161010). I am still seeing the InputBox not automatically focus the input.

I know it's hard to keep every behavior perfectly in sync when new OS versions and application versions are released. It's likely that macOS changes introduced this behavior. The behavior change is meaningful to me because I sometimes have to run this macro hundreds of times over the course of a day.

    Thank you, Rich.

You upgraded your OS version but didn't consider its affect on running applications?

First fully update to the latest version of MacOffice 2016. 15.20 is 8 months old. Only then do you have the right to be snarky about "meaningful UX regression", which might still be the case, but please humor this old computer guy, upgrade your MacOffice version and let us know if that changes the bad behavior. :-)
