Problems getting external data from Access into Excel

I can't refresh an Excel pivot table linked to a MS Access database on my Desktop.  The database was created on someone else's Desktop and copy/pasted to my Desktop.

I have tried changing the connection properties to replace the other users path so the path is pointed at my desktop but am unable to change.  I have also tried Browse to identify the Database which now resides on my Desktop unsuccessfully.

As a test, I tried creating a brand new database with a Test table; when I try to link to this table in Excel using the External Data Source as Access I get the same result, nothing.

Normally I would expect to see a listing of all available objects to link to in the database but in either case I don't even see the dialog box; nothing results, only a blank Excel tab.

Is this an Option selection issue or possibly a Driver issue?  Has anyone resolved a similar issue?

Thanks,

In addition to what Bill said...

I have seen peculiar things like this when the database is on the Desktop because the Desktop is not Trusted.  You might try moving to your Documents folder and seeing if you get the same results.

I can't replicate your problem. Maybe you need to run an Office Repair from the Control Panel>Programs & Features. Be sure to reboot after you run the Repair...just in case.
