In Word 2013 when typing a letter head with business letter you can change both the color & font by selecting a theme. I have Word 2016 and when I try to use "themes" it only changes the color not the font even though when you use the drop down menu in fonts it shows what font for that theme is suppose to be for the heading and the body, but it does not change the document font like it should! Was this feature taken out of Word 2016?

If you look in the Font dialog box, or in any drop down where fonts are listed, you'll see the options I mentioned earlier: "Body" and "Heading." If you apply either "Body" or "Heading" to text, the actual displayed font will be determined by the theme fonts.

You can experiment with this yourself.

The following screen shot is from a document of mine:

As you can tell from the Font dialog box, the font is set to "Body." In the document, the actual font becomes Times New Roman because of my current theme settings. If I choose a different theme, I will get a different font.

Thank you for replying.  I am currently in a word  intermediate class, in class we have word 2013 we learned how to change the theme in our  document by  simply hovering over each theme and watching the color and the font change  immediately. But at home I have word 2016 and when I was  practicing hovering over each theme only the color changes not the font, why? Was this taken out of 2016

The theme font is only applied to text ranges which are formatted in the "Body" or "Heading" font. As you have noticed, both "Body" and "Heading" are offered in the drop down lists of font names (and the font name in parentheses indicates which font is currently specified by the theme).
