Shyamal,

The question of, "what is this folder used for", never was answered.  Do you know off-hand what it's purpose is?

Hi Jaschris1,

Files folder is a system folder in an Exchange Online mailbox, it contains contents of all the attachments from all emails in the mailbox.

Feel free to let us know if anything is unclear.

Best Regards,

Aaron

    Hi Jaschris1,

Yes, Office 365 uses this system folder to store email attachments. The reason is confidential due to privacy mechanism.

From my knowledge, there is no such a similar File button/feature to sort out all email attachments in Outlook desktop client as Outlook for iOS does.

    Best Regards,

    Aaron

Now that we know it is a system folder, and it contains all of the attachments for the emails in the mailbox, what exactly was the purpose of separating out all of the attachments and filtering them out into the "Files" folder location?  Does this sync up with some sort of quick lookup in Outlook?  For example, the Outlook app for iPhone has a "Files" button, and appears to display all of the attachments.  Is there other functionality in Outlook that does similar?

    Thanks again, Aaron!
