Selection Contrast

When working in a document in Word and I select a word, the selected area is really hard to see. The color is too light. It makes it very difficult to edit when I'm not sure what I've selected. I've attached a screen shot. I realize the contrast will be different on your computer; the selection is to further explain what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

Hi Megan,

You can change highlight color in System Preferences. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Close your Word completely.
  2. Go to System Preferences > General.

  1. Click Highlight color.

  1. Click Other, then choose your favorite color and make sure it is a dark color.

  1. After this, open your Word again and try highlighting some text.

Regards,

Tisky

For those Interested, here are screen shots of how to change Highlight color. This is Recent change only in the last three or four OS versions. From at least 1986 up to that point there was one choice Charcoal Gray. These shots are from the Sierra MacOS system (OSX.12 under the old system).

When you click on the button here is what is seen

(works the same way as previous screenshots depicted in other replies to this thread).

It would be nice if someone would suggest this to MS.

I would, but an Windows Update a week ago broke all of my "Metro" (cr)applets, they just flash on screen for a moment. So I can't use the Win10 feedback app.

Cool!  This is definitely an advantage over Windows.

Users are given very little control over selection color.  It is a combination of a System attribute and how Word chose to implement it.

There is no setting in Word that I know of to change it.

In Windows Settings you can play with "Themes" to find one that implements a better selection color, for example they have some "High contrast" settings. I suspect Mac has a similar option.
