Excel problem - change from 2007 to 2011 version - ACTIVEX

Hi, I have recently installed version 2011 of office to my MacBook pro (2007 previously). Excel is having problems with tabulators which are created in my excel sheet (for counting, sum up, showing particular raws,  and so on), some macros in the sheet working without problem.

In that previous version it all worked without problems. I have tried to re-install this official - legal version, but without change. The message showed: This workbook includes content that is not supported by Excel for Mac 2011 - ACTIVE X. It allows me to open the file as read only.. Please help. Thanks a lot. Leo

I'm afraid there is nothing anyone here can do. Office 2007 is a Windows version of the software which supports the use of ActiveX Controls. ActiveX is not, never has been, & most likely never will be supported by the Mac OS.

The workbook will have to be used on a PC or a new Mac Office compatible version will have to be created without the use of ActiveX or Content Controls. Some of the Macros may have to be revised as well - VBA for Mac Office is not identical to VBA for Windows.

Another option is to use Boot Camp, Parallels or VMware Fusion to install the Windows OS on your Mac along with a copy of Windows Office. There also is a program by the name of CrossOver which enables running Windows programs on a Mac without having to use the Windows OS. I've never used it so I can't speak to whether it will provide the support needed for ActiveX Controls.
