Visio Data Load Error

Anonymous
2016-11-01T15:42:44+00:00

When refreshing a data link from Excel I get the following Error.

Unknown Function Name.

The error is not consistent, in that sometime when deleting and re-adding the same link the error will not reoccur on the next data refresh, but will then fail again with the same error later on.

The spreadsheet has multiple tabs.

What does Unknown Function Name indicate?

You mentioned that the workbook has multiple tabs. Have you linked to more than one of them or are you reading all data from one of the tabs? I'm not sure that there's a problem either way but am thinking about possible factors.

Where is the Excel workbook located? Is it on a network drive? In SharePoint? On a web server somewhere? Is it possible that the network connection is a factor, i.e., that you are seeing the error when there is very heavy network traffic?

BTW, I'm assuming that no one is changing tab names or column names or rearranging columns or tabs in the Excel workbook. Am I correct about that?

    Hi,

How did you connect this Visio data source in Excel? What's your connection type? Is there any detailed description about this "Unknown Function Name" error?

It is difficult to determine what the error occurred just based on the "Unknown Function Name" error. If possible, please provide the detailed steps about it. We would follow your steps to do further testing and analysis.

    Regards,

    Winni Liang
