Cannot edit PowerPoint presentation on SharePoint online

Question

I cannot edit PowerPoint presentation on SharePoint online and the opening via PowerPoint in SharePoint is breaking the document link in SharePoint and downloads it to my notebook.

What to do? Seems ther is something with my browser setting as this has worked before.

hi andreas,

based on your description, my understanding is that when you click the powerpoint file directly stored in sharepoint, it will not open and be downloaded to local. if yes, please go to the library which stores the ppt file ->on the ribbon, click library settings.

on the next page -> under general settings, click advanced settings -> next to open documents in browser, make sure you are using the server default

if the issue persists after you confirm above, to look into it, please provide the following information:

1.does this issue happen to this specific ppt file or all office documents(such as word, excel..)?

2.will this issue occur in another library?

3.check if your colleagues encounter the same issue.

4.check it in different browsers.
