Sharepoint invitations to external users problem

Hello Microsoft community,

I have come across a strange issue when sending out Sharepoint invitations to multiple email addresses of external users outside our organization to share the site. The following message is received ;

*Sharing failed: We couldn't share this with *****@ec.europa.eu, please try again. If you keep seeing this message, contact your IT department. Correlation Id: f8a7889d-408c-3000-a07e-cda0b0324a20

We are using the Office 365 version of Sharepoint. The invitation only seems to goes through to the first person in the chain of the email addresses and not to the rest, despite being shown the error message. As a result, the only workaround at the moment is sending these invitations individually. Once they invitations have gone through, the external user has no problem accessing the site. So we have confirmed the issue is definitely on our end and the fact that we cant send the Sharepoint invitation to multiple email addresses all at once.

Is this a browser issue? We have tried it with Chrome and Firefox so far and experienced the same problem.

This is not a problem when sending bulk invitations internally however everyone in the company does have an office 365 organizational email account set up.

Any help is much appreciated.

Best,

Devan

    Hi,

Whilst I have not tried your recommendation yet using IE seems to have solved the problem. I sent out an invitation to 70 email addresses without any issues.

Will update you when I try the solution above

    Thanks again

    Dev

    Hi Devan,

Based on your description, you are able to share the site with external users by sending invitations individually. It indicates that you have permissions to share a site with external users. We suggest you try the following:

    1.    Make sure all the email addresses are correct. If one of the email addresses is wrong, an error message will occur.

    2.    Clear browser caches. For example, Chrome.

    a.    Click the Menu button in the upper-right corner of the Chrome window, choose More Tools > Clear browsing data.

    b.    Select the period of time during which you wish to delete cached information using the Obliterate the following items from drop down menu. From there, you can choose Cached images and files.

    c.    After selecting the “Clear browsing data” button, Chrome will clear your cache.

    Regards,

    Yoga
