I'm trying to use microsoft remote desktop to connect to a remote PC form my Mac (Os x El capitan)

I keep getting this message:

Unable to connect to remote PC. Please verify Remote Desktop is enabled, the remote PC is turned on and available on the network, and then try again.

I've also tried doing the same from a PC, it didnt work.

Remote computer is not in my local network, but on another continent so i cannot check alll the details listed, but since i am not the only one usuing it i think the problem is ine me.

Please help

    Hey,

I think that you may have to update to the latest build version of Office 2011 for Mac if you are on a lower build version - see what is your build number for Office 2011 for mac on your mac pc and from Help -> Check For Updates -> Check for Updates try to update to the latest build version and see if this is going to be of any assistance to you in being able to fix the issue.
