Quick parts multiple dates

Hello

I need help fast

I am working in a new document and need to add multiple dates that correspond with other sections in the same document.

So, so far I have gone into quick parts, selected document properties and then publish date, I have then copied and pasted this so that when I selected the date of my review to adds the exact same date to other sections of the document, this is what I want..

Now when it comes to reviews 2, 3 and 4 when I start again and do the above for a second time it automatically changes the date of the first review and all other copied dates, is there away if having up to 6 publish date pickers that copy onto the relevant sections of the same document without changing the date of the previous review?

Is your problem with getting the add-in to work at all, or are you having trouble with creating mapped controls?

If the problem is in getting started:

    • Download the file http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_resources/content_controls_tools.zip to your Downloads folder.
    • Right-click the zip file, click Properties, and check the box for "Unblock". Click OK.
    • Double-click the zip file.
    • Copy the .dotm file that you find there.
    • In the address bar of the File Explorer, paste in the expression %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\Startup and press the Enter key.
    • Paste the .dotm file in that folder.
    • Start Word.
    • Click the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon and click the Content Control Tools button.

Follow the instructions about Basic Mapping on Greg's page.

The document property Quick Parts work the way they do because each kind is "mapped" to a specific piece of information in the document's XML. When you change the text or pick a date in one content control in the document, that value is written into the XML and then is reflected in all the content controls mapped to that XML. You're trying to use the same property, and thus the same piece of XML information, for two or more different date values, and that just isn't going to work.

What you can do is to create content controls that are mapped to different pieces of XML data. Word itself doesn't make this easy, but you can use the add-in that Greg Maxey provides at http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_pages/content_control_tools.html. Although the add-in looks complicated, you should be able to use just the "basic mapping" tab to create as many date-picker content controls -- each mapped to a different XML node -- as you need. You can then copy and paste them to repeat the same date within a specific review without affecting the other reviews.
