Pinyin is missing from the Ruby insertion button

Hi. I'm running Win10, using Office 2013, and went to do something I remember doing before, and it almost worked...

Working with Chinese script (simplified), I went to view/insert the Pinyin over the characters, as I had done before, but couldn't.

Upon digging, I found that there were no Ruby equivalents showing up, no matter what font I used, and no matter how few characters I would input.

I'm really curious about this. I searched for this within the community already, and have only seen some (unanswered) questions in the Windows 8/.1 rounds. If someone knows where this has gone, that would be great to hear about. I feel like I used to have it on this computer, with this build! I don't know what happened. I just isn't working for me anymore.

Any help will be appreciated. Even if I missed the conversation that may have helped someone else, if this has come up, I'll appreciate being shown the link. I looked, but just didn't see one.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

I kept digging and found an answer~ It's odd and around the field, so I'll post it here (slightly edited for readability).

Note: the forum stripped out the images, so you'll want to go to the link in order to see the screenshots, if you want them.

    It's from https://www.eduhk.hk/ocio/content/faq-how-add-phonetic-guides-注音標示-text-ms-word

(Now, if only there was a way to change the default input size and formatting...)

    Procedures: (For Word 2007/2010/2013)

    1. Firstly, highlight the text you need effected.
    2. Then you need to change the language for your phonetic guide. Click on the language from the status bar.
    3. Choose the language you need. (e.g. Chinese (PRC)). Then press "OK. [Edit: I found that unclicking the box for Detect Langauge Automatically, was helpful.]
    4. Now, from the "Home" tab, click on the "Phonetic Guide" button.
    5. Change the settings you need, then press OK
