Hello,

I am having issues with adding new users to SharePoint team sites and just wanted to confirm if this is the issue. So the company recently merged with a new company but have two different domains but login names are the same. So I am trying to add both accounts domain1\username1 and domain2\username1 and I continue to receive error User is not unique or does not exist. So previously the company had entire different employee id/usernames but they are now using the same login names moving forward on both domains and I am wondering if this is the issue as it seems to only be with these new accounts that now have same usernames. Should I be able to add both accounts since they are technically on 2 different domains or is SharePoint only seeing the username1 which is the issue?

Thanks N Advance

    Hi @Msdc ,

This issue happens because SharePoint is currently using the username to determine whether the user exists or not. So as a workaround, you could try to change domain2\username1 to domain2\username11 and add it again.
