How are the vertical line separators inserted in the tool bar. I am sure I have done it before but my memory of how I did it is failing me.

Referring to the vertical bars marked in the screen snippet below. A little hard to see properly in the snippet but they are vertical white bars that separate groups of icons.

It's not very obvious Ossie, but right click on the toolbar and choose customize, then grab one of the icons and move it a little to the right. When you release it a separator should appear to the left of it. Drag it to the left and the separator disappears.

Doesn't seem to work for icons on the extreme left of a toolbar or those with a separator already on their left (for inserting), although you can make an existing separator disappear by dragging left.

Thank you Murray. As per my initial post "I am sure I have done it before but my memory of how I did it is failing me." The memory all came rushing back as soon as I read your reply.
