Excel Password Suddenly Doesn't Work

Hi,

I have Excel 2013 files that I suddenly cannot open. I keep getting a message saying the password is not correct, or caps lock is on.

This occurred when I was trying to access an Excel password protected file on OneDrive. I accidentally mistyped the password a couple of times while trying to access the file from my Windows phone. I then found that I could not access the file from either my phone or PC. What is even more strange is that different versions of the same file which use the same password cannot be accessed either. Any ideas what's wrong?

Thank you for your reply. I am more interested in what has gone wrong. For example, does Excel 2013 restrict the number of password attempts? Has the file, and its variants using the same password, become corrupted in some way? Has it got something to do with using the Windows phone in the first place? I want to avoid similar situations - Thanks for your help.
