System error 1004

I have tried possible solutions that I came across on similar threads but none have them have worked for me.  I am running a report through Qport and use Excel for the query output.  We have done this here at work everyday for years.  Today seems to be the day that it decided to become an issue.  The Qport message I get is -

An error occurred while adding a new workbook to MS Excel.

System Error: 1004

Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because

there is not enough available memory or disk space.

I have deselected "Protected View" in the "Trust Center" and that didn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure you will have checked that there is disk space available where the file will be put and where Excel might hold its temporary files.

If you open Excel can you open previously created workbooks and save copies elsewhere?

Does restarting the computer resolve the issue?

Error 1004 is a generic error used by Excel/VBA when a macro hits a problem.

If QPort always translates error 1004 to the message you have reported then it could be misleading.

Have any updates been installed since it last worked?

Does restoring the computer to a restore point before the last update resolve the issue?
