bullets not formatted correctly; Printer format not taking

I recently installed Office 2016 on a new windows 10 PC. I use bulleted lists all the time. When I select a solid black dot, a empty rectangle appears and does not want to change. If it does change after much work, it reverts back. How do I fix this.

Second issue has to do with printers. I have preferences set for my printers in the system but in the past was able to override the settings in WORD.  For instance, I have a default of draft quality, black ink cartridge only. The usual printer dialog box does not appear. Rather a WORD box appears. Even when I try to set preferences for color in a  particular document, it does not take. Both printers are new HP printers on a HP PC.

As Doug illustrates in his screen shot, make sure that the correct printer is selected at File | Print and then click Printer Properties. You should then see the complete set of options for the printer.

If you click on the Printer Properties link in the Back Stage Print View, you will see a Properties dialog that is specific for the selected printer such as:

For the bullet issue, make sure that the font isn't damaged (typically Symbol or Wingdings are used for bullets).

As far as printing is concerned, what do you see when you click the Printer Properties link at File | Print? You should get access to all settings for the currently selected printer.

Thank you for the reply. I will work on the font issue.

I have two HP printers. I do not get access to all the printer settings for either printer. It some type of Office App popup box, not the HP  box that opens in other programs.

The HP printer dialog box opens with all other applications other than Office 2016. In Office 2016, a limited Office printer box opens even after selecting advanced. I should be able to modify the default settings there for color, borderless, etc.  Even when I try to disable draft and grayscale, hoping to get color printing, the document still prints in black and while. When I converted the document to pdf, it printed in color.

I am very frustrated and do not want towaste time changing all the docs into PDFs eveytime I print in color. These printers, both purchased in late 2016, worked beautifully in Vista and Office 2007.

I assume this is a microsoft problem?

    Thank you for any guidance.
