Expanded character spacing default

Hello

Is there a way to change the default expanded character spacing setting (in my Word 2011, Fonts/Advanced) from 1.0 where it is now, to 1.5 points?  Or do I have to do this manually every time I use the feature?

Many thanks,

Dionv1

    Hi Dionv1,

Please follow the steps below to change the default expanded character spacing settings:

    1. Click Go > Home > Library > Application Support > Microsoft > Office > User Templates > normal.dotm.
    2. Open the normal.docm.
    3. Right click on the Word template and select Font. Click Advanced > Character Spacing > Spacing.

    1. Click Ok and save the document as a document template to the path library > Application support > Microsoft > Office > User Templates.
    2. Start Word 2011 for Mac and select the document template.

    Dear Shirley,

Thank you very much for your reply. Unless I am doing something wrong, selecting the new document template  resulted in all my writing appearing in expanded characters in a new document, and not just changing the setting in the font/advanced dialog box from 1 to 1.5 points.

But maybe I am not doing it correctly?

    Many thanks

    Dionv1

Having followed the instructions to create a template with such expanded character formatting, it is only to be expected that when you create a document from that template, it will have that character spacing.  If you do not want that spacing to be the default (i.e. apply to all documents created from the template) change it back to what you want it to be.
