Adjustable master slide object

I have master slide layouts with dividing lines using the line drawing object between text placeholders. There are times when I have to make the text placeholders bigger or smaller and would like to have the ability to adjust the dividing lines accordingly. The lines are not selectable when working in the presentation, and if I adjust the master slide, it obviously will do that for all slides. In looking online, I am thinking it's probably not possible, but I've not found a definitive answer. Thanks.

If you need to move the lines because, say, you have a slides with two lines of title text rather than one, you could add another layout, a duplicate of the first, but with the line moved down to accommodate the extra text.  Then you can choose whichever layout is appropriate for the amount of title text you have.

Otherwise, I don't think there's an easy way around this.

If you need more flexibility, you may have to take the line off the master and copy it to each individual slide, then position it as needed.

Have you tried using a table? It can automatically place lines (borders) between text areas (the table cells) and those borders move with the cells as you enlarge or shrink the table.

    Hi Andrew,

This is not feasible to adjust the drawing lines with the changes of text placeholders accordingly. They are two individual objects.

Regarding "if I adjust the master slide, it obviously will do that for all slides", because a slide master is the top slide in a hierarchy of slides that stores information about the theme and slide layouts of a presentation. When you edit the slide master, all slides in your presentation that are based on that master will contain your changes.

So, I suggest you submit your feedback on the PowerPoint UserVoice which is the best way to influence our products.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    William
