Hi,

I am in the process of migrating mails from a Zimbra server to Office 365. I know that we have to include Zimbra account password in the CSV. Is there any way to avoid including password in the CSV. Users don't like to reset their passwords and this is the pain point i am having. I have Full Admin in Zimbra Server. Is there any way to continue the migration using these Admin credentials.?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Mr.POP

    Hi Mr.POP,

Thanks for your reminder. I forgot to mention this point.

It means that if the administrator has the full access permission to all of the migrated mailboxes. In other words, this requires that you use an account in your IMAP messaging system that has the necessary rights to access all user mailboxes.

If your mail server supports this, you just need the admin’s credential to do the IMAP migrate. In the CSV file, you just use the credentials for this account for each row. If anything is unclear about this, feel free to contact me, I am glad to provide further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Toby

    Hi Tovy,

    Thanks for the update.

Wonder what is mentioned in this article about IMAP migration.

"Set up admin credentials or get or reset user email passwords."

    Hi Mr.POP,

I understand your requirement. However, only with every user’s credential, the Office 365 can access their mailbox to migrate the data.

Here is a workaround and I’d like to share with you. I hope it helps. I suggest you let the users who don’t want to share the password with you export their mailbox data to a PST file from the Outlook client, then import it to the Office 365. For your reference:

Export or backup email, contacts, and calendar to an Outlook .pst file

Import email, contacts, and calendar from an Outlook .pst file

    Best Regards,

    Toby
