Hello all,

We are trying to install Office 2016 (x86) on a Windows Server 2012 R2 (RDSH). The installation fails with following message :

'Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working - Error 1603'

After few investigation, we found following error in the installation logs :

'CAInstallLicenses:  Error: Failed to open Token Store HResult: 0x8007041d. '

We have already installed all security patches on the server.

We greatly appreciate your help on this issue.

    Hello,

    we have the same error when Installing Visio Professional 2016 (x86) on a Windows Server 2012 R2.

    2017/04/11 00:33:32:830::[14144] MSI(ACTIONSTART): 'Action 0:33:32: CAInstallLicenses. '

    2017/04/11 00:33:32:845::[14144] MSI(INFO): 'CAInstallLicenses:  OMSICA : Initializing CustomAction CAInstallLicenses'

    2017/04/11 00:33:32:861::[14144] MSI(INFO): 'CAInstallLicenses:  Populating the Token Store'

    2017/04/11 00:33:32:861::[14144] MSI(INFO): 'CAInstallLicenses:  Installing license: sl.ISSUANCE.CLIENT_ROOT'

    2017/04/11 00:35:32:893::[14144] MSI(INFO): 'CAInstallLicenses:  Error: Failed to open Token Store HResult: 0x8007041d. '

    2017/04/11 00:35:32:893::[14144] MSI(INFO): 'CustomAction CAInstallLicenses returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)'

    2017/04/11 00:35:33:424::[14144] MSI(INFO): 'Action ended 0:35:33: InstallExecute. Return value 3.'

    Seems that it  was a Problem with some Patches. Because before we installed Project Professional 2016 (x86) and Patches for this product. Afterwards the Visio Installation starts and get this error message.

    After two reboots for the Server the Installation runs fine without any error.

    So in our case the error have nothing to do with the License.

    All Office Products are On Premise VL Versions.

    Best Regards,

    Stefan
