Weird page setup

When I open up the Word app, my page setup is different than usual. The cursor point is located right at the top of the page rather than little bit lower down the page. I have to find an answer quickly for my thesis. Oh, how can I reset the Word setting by the way?

If you are, in fact, using a Mac you won't be able to follow Doug's suggestion... Instead, go to Word> Preferences> View - Show Window Elements. You'll find the White space between pages in Print Layout View check box there. However, that's the long way.

Instead, look for the pointer to change to what you see in this screen shot when you;

  • move it above or below a new/one page document or
  • onto the line that separates one page from the next in a multi-page document

then double-click;

The same method can be used to toggle the display of white space on/off.

Note that it applies to on-screen viewing in Print Layout View only & it has no effect on printed or PDF output.

    Go to File>Options>Display and then check the box for "Show white space between pages in Print Layout view".

    Bob left off an item, which if you don't realize might make you think you haven't corrected the issue. See the enclosed video explanation:

    My video Clip program doesn't pick up the icons that Bob is showing.

    Instead, they are replaced by pointer with target

    Basically when you double click again to add the whitespace you need to scroll the page, to see the margins again.
