Open Excel File directly in Excel Online

Question

Good morning,

i have a question for you. In my job have some Excel in Sharepoint. I would like to ask how it can open easily? While open file classic, opened Excel, but that could work in it, you will need draped from or work in Excel Online (in browser) / Excel on your computer. We would like to that Excel document opens directly in Excel Online. tath choise to choose between open in browser, in computer dropped.

Hi Martin,

It is not feasible to directly open the Excel Online in Edit mode. Because when you click on Edit Workbook, Excel will verify your permission.

While you can open Excel Online in Edit mode by clicking three dots beside the file name then choose Open in Excel Online as shown below as a workaround.

Hi Martin,

On your SharePoint site, you can set the default behavior when opening a document for a document library by navigating to Document Library Settings.

On your SharePoint document library, click on Library on the ribbon, then go to Library Settings. Navigate to the Advanced Settings, and then go to Opening Documents in the Browser option.

Note that the file should be located on that same document library in your SharePoint site, for the settings to take effect.

Thank you, but I'm not solve the problem. Explain better. After opening Excel I want at work, I like this while Excel opens, but the drop-down box should be selected, opened in a browser. I do not think so, opening excel, now you can work in Excel online as in Onedrive Live.

Hi Martin,

Can you provide a screenshot of the drop down box you stated? As based on my understanding, you want a drop down box selection to open your document in browser.

If the above statement is correct, it is not feasible. You can only set the default behavior when you open your document, on the library settings of the document library.

If i misunderstood your question, can you provide a more detailed description of what you want to achieve?
