Pie Chart not displaying

Question

I'm trying to create a pie chart. When I select two nonadjacent ranges and then click to select the pie chart, it doesn't display. I get a chart with my first range of data showing as a title and that's it. Help?

Hi, you can try another way to insert the pie chart into your "Blank Pie Chart Box" area as you have shared.

Assume that, Your table range is A1:F7, Where A column is chart "Series Name" and F column is "Annual Total"

Step 1: Select your pie chart title and press "Delete". Now it will looks like below:

Step 2: Now Right click in your pie chart area box and select "Select Data". This will show you a dialog box.

Step 3: Click on "Add" button and fill the "Edit Series" dialog box as below and click on "OK".

Now to Add the Legend Title follow these steps:

Step 4 : Click the "Edit" button under "Horizontal (category) axis Labels" of this dialog box.

Step 5: A new dialog box appears named "Axis Labels". Fill it up by selecting the A2:A6 cell. It will looks like below and press "Enter" and click on "Ok" twice to close 2 dialog boxes.

After closing dialog boxes it will looks like below:

Now add legend or chart title by clicking on "+" sign after selecting the chart or others modification whatever you need. And then it will looks like below:

Are your data labels in the left hand range, and the values in the right hand range? Could you share your worksheet?

You don't say which version of EXCEL you're using neither do you say exactly how you are selecting the non adjacent ranges. 

Using the data that you have provided in EXCEL if I hold down the CTRL key and then highlight the ranges:-

A2:A6 (Salaries and Benefits down to and including Miscellaneous) 

 - and:-

F2:F6 (3,106,284 down to and including 904,067)

 - and then insert the Pie Chart it opens correctly:-

I am running Excel 2016 in Office 365 University on Windows 10 Home. I select the first range of data A5:A9 then hold the Control key and select F5:F9. They both are highlighted correctly, but when I click to select the pie chart I get what I screenshot in the previous reply. It's like it's not reading the values in the cells in the F column. I've tried it in other columns too and get the same thing. I'm starting to think it's a software issue.
